Heartwarming Initiative Charitable Foundation Services

Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide. Although Hong Kong has a strong healthcare system that has helped reduce mortality rates from these diseases, heart disease remains a major threat in the region. The onset of coronary heart disease can occur suddenly, often with no prior warning signs, which is quite alarming.

Prevention is better than cure, so preventing coronary heart disease is key to lowering its mortality rate. Known non-modifiable risk factors include age, gender, and family history, but more importantly, there are modifiable risk factors like smoking, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high cholesterol. We should actively work on improving these modifiable factors by quitting smoking, managing these health issues, and developing good exercise habits.

To support this goal, Heartwarming Initiative Charitable Foundation is committed to providing free health screenings for low-income individuals. This initiative aims to identify heart disease risks early, ensuring that participants do not miss critical opportunities for treatment.

The Foundation considers applications that meet the scope of the Foundation's grants. If you are interested in applying for funding, we recommend that you read the following funding terms and procedures carefully:

Through the free screening, we hope to discover more undiagnosed elderly patients with heart disease. During the community screening, if participants are found to have any of the three major heart issues (coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, and valvular heart disease), we can provide free referrals to government hospitals or other medical institutions.

For patients with coronary artery disease, cardiovascular blockages can feel like "ticking time bombs," as severe blockages can lead to a heart attack at any moment. What begins as a manageable issue can quickly turn into a life-threatening emergency. If a patient suffers an acute myocardial infarction, delays in treatment due to ambulance and emergency room services can complicate surgery, increasing risks and potentially leading to tragic outcomes.

This is the reason why our organization is committed to providing financial support for more patients awaiting coronary angioplasty in public hospitals. By doing so, we aim to ease the burden on both the healthcare system and individuals, ensuring that patients receive the timely care they need to live healthier, safer lives. We believe that everyone deserves access to the treatment that can save their lives and improve their quality of life.
